CHICAGO, IL ā In a totally real and not at all exaggerated turn of events, Chicago Sky rookie Kamilla Cardoso has reportedly issued an ultimatum to team management: either Angel Reese goes⦠or she does.
āI didnāt survive Dawn Staleyās practices just to share a locker room with her,ā Cardoso allegedly declared while dramatically packing her gym bag and side-eyeing a pair of fuzzy slippers reportedly belonging to Reese.
Sources claim the tension dates back to their college rivalry, when Reese playfully (or maybe not) yanked Cardosoās hair during a heated LSUāSouth Carolina showdown. While many chalked it up to competitive spirit, Cardoso is now citing ālong-term trauma and split endsā as irreconcilable issues.
āIf Angel stays, Iām joining Caitlin Clark in Indiana,ā Cardoso reportedly tells stunned reporters
League insiders say Cardosoās threat has already sent shockwaves through the WNBA. Fever coach Christie Sides was said to be āconfused but intrigued,ā and Caitlin Clark has allegedly responded with a single, cryptic Instagram post: .

Meanwhile, Angel Reese appears unfazed. When asked about the situation, she reportedly laughed and replied, āThatās cute. I guess everyone wants to play with Caitlin now.ā
WNBA Drama, but Make It Reality TV
Fans are now calling for a new WNBA reality show: āRookies & Rivals: Sky High Dramaā ā featuring Cardoso, Reese, a locker room ring light, and three episodes of awkward team dinners.
Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon, who has the unenviable job of playing peacekeeper, issued a public statement:
āTheyāre both competitors. Theyāre both passionate. And no, weāre not trading anyone over hair-pulling flashbacks.ā

In Conclusionā¦
While no trades are currently on the table, and both players seem fully committed to Chicago (and winning), this saga proves one thing:
The WNBA has entered its full-blown drama eraāand weāre here for it.

Caitlin Clark Headlines AP All-Time Womenās College Basketball Team!
There has been a lot of speculation about Chicago Sky star Angel ReeseĀ potentially getting tradedĀ in the future. This stems from the inflammatory comments Reese made about the franchise inĀ a September articleĀ from theĀ Chicago Tribune.
Reese was quoted in the article as saying, āIām not settling for the same s*** we did this year,ā regarding the front office failing to add enough impact players to the teamās roster this past offseason, which led to a mediocre 2025 campaign from the team. She also conveyed that if the front office comes up short in her eyes once again this offseason, she would haveĀ no problem leaving the teamĀ (presumably via making a trade request).
Chatter regarding Reeseās comments has died down in recent weeks. This is largely because Sky GM Jeff Pagliocca made it clear that he hasĀ no intention of trading ReeseĀ this offseason when speaking with the media last month.

Then again, it would have been absurd to think Pagliocca would have gone public with his intention to trade his best player rather than discreetly shopping her behind closed doors. That is not to say Pagliocca is actively trying to trade Reese right now. But thereās a case to be made that doing so would be mutually beneficial.
Lisa Leslie Speaks on What Angel Reese Has Missed With Chicago Sky
WNBA legend Lisa Leslie made it clear what she wants for Reese in case she gets traded duringĀ an October 16 episodeĀ ofĀ The Good FollowĀ podcast.
āI donāt know that she necessarily had the veteran leadership that she should have had coming into the WNBA. I wish that for her,ā Leslie said of Reese. āYou think about the top teams, like a Minnesota, and you think about Napheesa Collier having someone like [Sylvia Fowles]. To have a veteran thatās like, āHey, this is how we do, this is how we work.ā She didnāt have that, and she still hasnāt had that.
āThatās the part where I feel like, wow, your introduction to this league really hasnāt been what most rookies have. And thatās the opportunity to be a rookie, and have a veteran that leads you,ā Leslie added. āI think in some ways, I wish she would have more of that veteran leadership on the team, day in and day out.
āAnd I hope for the future, I donāt know whatās going to happen with Chicago. But if she ends up somewhere else, that she can end up in a place where a team can really appreciate what she brings to the table. Because sheās a baller,ā Leslie concluded.

It will be fascinating to see how long Reese is in Chicago for and where she might end up in case she gets traded.
