The Fever have embarked on an improbable playoff run without Clark or Cunningham
INDIANA Fever star Sophie Cunningham has lifted the lid on her friendship with teammate Caitlin Clark.
Cunningham, 29, played an enforcer role for the Fever this year, often looking to protect Clark from physical treatment received from opposition defenders.

The former second-round pick has emerged as a cult hero alongside superstar Clark, but unfortunately both players have been ruled out of the WNBA playoffs by long-term injuries.
As she continues to rehab an MCL issue, Cunningham hopped on the Young Man and the Three podcast for a lengthy interview.
During her chat with host Tommy Alter, the former Phoenix Mercury star discussed how she keeps her pal Clark grounded.
âSheâs just a big kid, you know what I mean,â Cunningham began.

âShe is so phenomenal and so elite at her craft. A generational talent.
âI donât think I have to hype her up anymore. In fact, we need to get her head a little bit down, and thatâs what Iâve done.
âWeâve had a fun relationship so far. She loves hard, but at the end of the day sheâs like one of my little cousins. Sheâs the age of them, she acts like. Iâm just like, âDude, youâre a dweeb.â
âLike, you are the biggest dork Iâve probably ever met, and just somehow you know how to shoot from far out.
âAnd youâre really great at passing.â
Clark, 23, has been ruled out with a groin strain since July 15.

Cunningham, meanwhile, has not played since August 17.
Despite being missing several key players, the Fever have embarked on an improbable post-season run.
Stephanie Whiteâs squad upset the odds to beat the Atlanta Dream in round one of the playoffs, their first series win in a decade.
The Fever lost game one 80-68 to the Dream, before tying the series with a 77-60 win at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
They then trailed for much of game three, but went ahead via Aaliyah Bostonâs bucket in the closing seconds â winning 87-85.
