The 17-year-old charged in the π΄π΅π’π£π£πͺπ―π¨ d3ath of high school track star Austin Metcalf will face an βuphill battleβ if his attorneys present a self-defense claim in court.
Anthony was arrested and charged with first-degree ππΆπ³π₯π¦π³ in connection with the π΄π΅π’π£π£πͺπ―π¨ d3ath of Austin Metcalf on April 2 at the Kuykendall Stadium..
Julie Rendelman, a former Deputy Bureau Chief in the Kings County District Attorneyβs Homicide Bureau, argues that Anthony may have trouble proving he used reasonable force to protect himself.
βIf the evidence is what it is right now, I think heβs going to have an uphill battle claiming self-defense,β Julie Rendelman, a New York attorney who is not involved in the case,Β toldΒ Fox News Digital. βBut we may learn much, much more that changes that perspective. And that could be for a jury or a grand jury to decide.β
According to witnesses, Metcalf, from Memorial High School, and Anthony, from Centennial High School, became involved in a verbal altercation over where he was seated.
Anthony reportedly warned Metcalf several times not to touch him before he stabb3d him.
